Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Arkham Horror VS Dune

Sounds like Herbert was a snobby prick. "How dare they write a song about my masterpiece? They say it will increase my book sales, well I don't want THOSE people reading my books anyway."

Yeah, that song couldn't possibly have been worse than sequels like "Duncan Idaho, Sex God of Dune."

Alright, there's only a day of voting left so it's time to wheel out the big guns.

Lovecraft was a racist.

Therefore, if you vote for ARKHAM HORROR, it puts you that much closer to Adolf Hitler.

DUNE is about freedom, the environment, indigenous peoples, and other progressive ideas. Vote for change. Vote DUNE.

Progressive ideas like genocide and jihad?

Yes, those things are in there as well and they should appeal to the fanatical right-wing sensibilties of ARKHAM HORROR voters.

The desert planet idea in Dune was totally stolen from Star Wars' Tatooine. And the sand worm is lifted directly from Tremors.

I invoke Godwin's Law. Therefore Arkham Horror wins by default.

When Iron Maiden wrote their song Dune (later renamed To Tame a Land) in 1983, here's what happened:

Author Frank Herbert refused to allow the band to call this song "Dune." The band originally sent a letter to Herbert's agent for permission. The response read as follows: "No. Because Frank Herbert doesn't like rock bands, particularly heavy rock bands, and especially rock bands like Iron Maiden." Songwriter Steve Harris tried to convince Herbert that the song would be a good promo for the book, but he still refused.

Dude, your Arkham Horror lunacy has blinded you to your own point. It doesn't matter that Herbert didn't like Iron Maiden. All that matters is that IRON MAIDEN LOVES DUNE!!! And I bet Iron Maiden has gotten laid far more often than any of you Akrham Horror geeks.

A VOTE FOR DUNE IS A VOTE FOR ROCKING GAMEPLAY IN EVERY SENSE.

This should read as follows. This is what really happened.

Iron Maiden refused to allow Herbert to call their song "Dune." The author originally sent a letter to Iron Maiden's agent for permission. The response read as follows: "No. Because Iron Maiden doesn't like Dune, particularly more then three books of Dune, and especially not board games like Dune." Author Frank Herbert tried to convince Harris that the song would be a good promo for his book, but the band still refused.

Dune's theme is as exciting as the desert in which it is placed.

Vote: Arkham Horror because you can spend your whole pay check pimping it out with special FFG dice, card sleeves and minis.

Hmmm. And worker placement, and spice harvesting. And the cover artwork is kind of, um, brown. Maybe Dune is more of a EuroGame, while Arkham Horror is pure AmeriTrash.
